Release the Pressure
is bringing together Black women from across America —
reminding them to make self care a priority to improve
their heart health.
reminding them to make self care a priority to improve
their heart health.
Our mission is to join Black women in taking preventive action to protect their heart health. We’re encouraging Black women to be a part of a healthy blood pressure movement. And we want you to join us.
Nearly 80% of Black adults who have high blood pressure don’t have it under control, putting them at higher risk of heart attack and stroke. And we’re not okay with it. We’re also not okay with the systemic racism that often makes preventing and reducing high blood pressure more difficult for Black women. But we’re not just going to sit here and take it. The RTP Heart Health Squad will support you in protecting your mental health and overall well-being.
Meet the Release The Pressure Squad
In May of 2020, the RTP Heart Health Squad — a coalition of national health care professional organizations and heart health experts — launched the Release the Pressure campaign and empower Black women to prevent and manage high blood pressure.
Self-Care is a Survival Tactic
Take the first step and pledge to make self-care and heart health one of your top priorities. After you take the pledge, you will get an email on how to make that commitment a reality.
We’re here to help you get that blood pressure down.
We have created tools to help you manage your blood pressure, from info on what your blood pressure numbers mean to resources for healthy cooking, physical activity, and meditation.
We’re here to help Black women look at self-care as an act of self-preservation. A way to take back what’s often taken from them. We’re committed to providing doable steps to prevent or manage high blood pressure. We’ll also help you develop a Wellness Vision Board with your friends and relatives because being healthy is not a solo journey.
